Ronnie L. Phelps

New Albany, IN, Ronnie L. Phelps, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday January 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 04, 1948 to O.C. and Irene (Embry) Phelps. Ronnie married Tuwanta (Burk) Phelps on July 22, 1983 and have enjoyed 38 years together. He joined the United States Army in 1971, serving as a Military Police Officer for twenty years and retiring in 1991. Ronnie later worked for the Luther Luckett Corrections. He enjoyed life, spending time with friends, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Tuwanta; two sons, Charles ( Sharon) Heavrin, Chris (Sabrina) Heavrin; four daughters, Charlene (William) Decker, Sonora Crocker, Sandy (Tasha) Byrd, Dawn Phelps; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Kenny (Brenda) Phelps, Randy (Mary) Phelps, Dwayne (Cindy) Phelps; and one sister, Peggy (Lynn) Rosenbarger

Funeral service will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday January 20, 2021 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be from 11a.m. until time of service on the same day. Due to Covid the service will be streamed Live on Facebook and available on Love Funeral Home’s Page for later viewing.
