Mabel Laverne (Cheatham) Whitmore

Palmyra, IN, Mabel Laverne (Cheatham) Whitmore, age 86, passed away on September 09, 2021. She was born on June 08, 1935 to Benjamin Franklin and Myrtle Mae (Pinkston) Cheatham in Willisburg, KY. Mabel married Harold L. Whitmore on December 24, 1955. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother, and homemaker. Mabel attended and was a member of the Palmyra Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, singing, travelling, spending time with her family, and serving others.

Mabel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Imogen Hopkins, Shirley Satterly; and three brothers, Jerry Cheatham, Charles Cheatham, and Benjamin Cheatham Jr.

She is survived by three daughters, Sherry D. (Terry) Beavers, Sandy (Butch) Strickland, Lori (Wally Reyes) Whitmore; one son Douglas L. (Kim) Whitmore; two sisters, Barbara Lyons, and Brenda Cooksey; as well as ten grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.  on Saturday September 11, 2021. Visitation will be on the same day from 12 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Central Barren Cemetery in Central Barren, IN. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mabel’s name to a charity of your choice.
