Charles Ray Sommerville

New Salisbury, IN, Charles Ray Sommerville, age 75, passed away at his home on Thursday April 29, 2021. He was born on January 02, 1946 in New Albany, IN to John and Inez (Stiles) Sommerville. Charlie married Betty (Bowling) Sommerville on September 16, 1967, even though they were “engaged” at five years old. He worked and retired as a parts manager for Perkins Motors. Charlie enjoyed hunting with his beagles, bluegill fishing, caring for his lawn, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife Betty, his children, and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.

Charlie is survived by his wife; two sons, Brian (Cindy) Sommerville, Brad (Michelle) Sommerville; seven grandchildren, Shannon Sommerville, Brianne Sommerville, Kyle Sommerville, Breanna Beswick, Lucas Beswick; Lacy (Josh) Cantrell, Joe (Jill) McCarty; five great-grandchildren, Adalynn Fetz, Jaiden Cantrell, Jenna, Jordin, Joe McCarty; one brother, Gene Sommerville, one sister, Linda Downs; and one sister-in-law, Freda Sommerville.

A memorial service will be held on May 08, 2021. A visitation will be held from 2p.m until 3p.m with the funeral services starting at 3p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in Charlie’s name to a charity of your choice. Per Charlie’s wishes cremation was chosen.
