Fredericksburg, IN, Burchel “Butch” “Jay” Morgan, age 72, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday September 20, 2020 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was born in Leslie county Kentucky on August 27, 1948 to Thadeus and Lucy (Hamilton) Morgan. Butch graduated from Bowling Green High School in Ohio with the class of 1966. He excelled in sports especially baseball, football, and track, but was a lover of all sports including golfing and hunting. But most of all he was an avid UK Wildcats basketball fan for his entire life. Butch also received an associates degree in computer science from Spencerian College after relocating to Southern Indiana, where he spent several years working for the Cissell Mfg. Co in Louisville, Ky. Later Butch would move to Melbourne, FL and receive his bachelor’s degree in information technology from the Florida Institute of Technology. He retired from the city of Melbourne as the I.T. Director. Butch was a 32nd degree master Mason at the Valley-Daylight Lodge #511 located in Shivley, KY, and stayed active for over 50 years.
Butch is proceeded in death by his parents; sister Malva (Morgan) Bryant and brother-in-law James J. Boyer.
He is survived by his sister, Jolene Boyer: a daughter; one neice Elizabeth Ann Bryant (Dan); and great neice Amber (Paul) Searls; two great nephews Michael and Jaryd (Ashley) Lukacs.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday September 24, 2020 at 2:00pm at Horners Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11a.m. till the time of service on Thursday at Love Funeral Home. In place of flowers family ask that any gifts or memorial contributions be made in Butch’s name to Livonia Presbyterian Church at C/o Jolene Boyer, PO Box 42, Fredericksburg, IN 47120.
