Berthel Meredith

Palmyra, IN, Berthel “Bert” Meredith, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Bert was born in Sunfish, Kentucky, on February 02, 1936 to Benjamin Meredith and Janie Whobrey. He married Phyllis (Raisor) Meredith on September 25, 1970. Bert was a member of the Laborers Union Local 795, and worked in construction. He was a member of North Harrison Baptist Church. Bert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Louise (Peterson) Meredith; one sister, Retha Morris; four brothers, Wilbur, Floyd, Joe, and Norman Meredith.

Bert is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Raisor) Meredith; two daughters, Marcelene (Joe) Warner, Rebecca (Eric) Atwood; two sons, Stephen (Sarrina) Meredith, Jon (Karen) Meredith; one sister, Lilian Dennison; six grandchildren, Chelsie (Kyle) Sears, Jon “Ben” Meredith, Kristi Meredith, Stephen “Ryan” Meredith, Zachary (Mariah) Atwood, Casey (Mark) Snapp; as well as five great-grandchildren, Willow Sears, Autumn Sears, Brycen Atwood, Ayden Atwood, and Gracie Atwood.  

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Visitation will be held on the same day from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Kraft- Graceland Memorial Gardens in New Albany, IN.
