Launett Petrey Coates

Launett Petrey Coates, age 86, of Salem, IN, peacefully passed away on April 15, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1938, to Clyde and Sarah (Craig) Petrey in Harlan, KY. Launett dedicated her life to caring for her family, embodying the role of a devoted homemaker.

On August 05, 1961, she married Arthur Coates Sr., sharing a lifetime of cherished memories and unwavering love. Launett was a devout member of the Christian Assembly Church in New Albany, IN, finding solace and community in her faith. She found joy in attending church services, embracing the uplifting melodies of gospel music, savoring cups of coffee, and relishing in the company of her beloved family and friends.

Launett is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Clyde "Bud" Petrey, Jr.; Franklin "Frank" Petrey; Morrice "Hunky" Petrey; and sister, Wilma Petrey.

Launett leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, cherished by her two sons, Arthur Coates Jr. and Gary (Monica) Coates; her brothers, Herbert (Teresa) Petrey, Kenneth Petrey, and Jerry (Shirley) Petrey; her granddaughter, Izabella Coates; three grandsons, Andrew Coates, Cameron Fisher, and Caleb Fisher.

A visitation to honor Launett's life will be held from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, IN. Funeral services will commence at 12 pm on the same day, offering a time of reflection and remembrance for those who knew and loved her deeply.

Following the service, interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, IN, where Launett will be laid to rest.
